So, we got a new couch. And when we did, we decide to move around everything in our living room. You know, it was just time for a change. And with all these things we are wanting to do, it was the perfect time. Once we moved everything, our cheap-o Ikea laminate coffee table just wasn't cutting it. So, looking for inspiration we found these two coffee tables that we really liked the look of.
So with these looks in mind we set out to build our own coffee table. If you haven't heard of Ana White, she has a fabulous blog that provides you with the plans to anything your little heart desires to build. So we looked to her for the logistics of building a coffee table, although we ended up just kind of going on our own on this one.
We bought decorative legs from Home Depot, attached it to a base of 1X4's, and added 1X1's for support in the middle.
This is what our base ended up looking like before we put the top boards on.
We probably would have just ran 1X1's in the opposite direction of how we wanted our top boards to go, but we just wanted the extra challenge. {wink, wink}
Here it is in the house with our new couch.
It absolutely perfect for what we wanted. The final measurements ended up being 44"X 48".
My favorite part is the color stain we used. It is Dark Walnut, and makes the wood looked aged and not too over done. We love it.
